My Promise
I promise to bring fiscal responsibility and some common sense to this city. For too long we have lived with decaying public services, increased crime, increasingly common large project delays, projects vastly overbudget, and increasing taxes with a rapidly decreasing sense of value for those tax dollars.

With all of these issues becoming the norm change is needed in Edmonton. That is what I promise to bring, change.

I will be accountable to you, and strive to do all I can to ensure transparency in all decisions. Together, we will prioritize fiscal responsibility, making wise financial choices that benefit everyone. Join me in building a future grounded in integrity and trust.

Issues
Housing

The problem

The housing crisis is here and it is spreading rapidly all across Canada. Many of us have already seen it with rising costs of purchasing a home and rising costs to rent.

So far the solution has been to do exactly what other major cities have done. Increase property taxes, densify even where it is unwanted, and disincentivize construction of any kind of home outside of high density.

The Solution

Put in the work, zone properly, and build homes.

No one argues the need for more housing, the problem is how we are going about it currently is causing even more problems and not solving the problems these policies set out to address. We need to build as many homes as possible this will require us to work with local developers and putting in the work to zone appropriately, for low, medium, and yes high density housing were it makes sense.

Blanket zoning laws and policies that have been used in Ontario and British Columbia will only result in Edmonton becoming just like the major cities in those provinces that employed such policies. Unaffordable!

Value for Taxes

The problem

We are spending too much, too inefficiently. It is this financial mismanagement that has caused property tax increases.

Currently council's inability to spend in a fiscally responsible and efficient manner has forced them to make up the shortfall in other ways that are negatively affecting the finances and quality of life of everyday Edmontonians. This has taken the form of yearly property tax increases and zoning laws motivated not by providing quality homes but by what buildings will provide a higher property tax inflow for the city.

Right now the people of Edmonton are not getting value for their taxes. Only tax increases.

The Solution

Spend smarter, not more. We need to take an honest look at our finances and make realistic budgets that we can stick to.

I promise to use my experience in corporate budgeting and project management to bring fiscal responsibility to City Hall and give you real value for your tax dollars.

Public Safety

The problem

People feel unsafe and our city council has a dysfunctional relationship with the Edmonton Police Service. More time is spent with infighting between council and EPS then actually making our streets safer.

One notable result has been the public perception of the LRT and public transit in Edmonton in general. This perception is rightly deserved. The LRT, along with other public transit services, are actively avoided in large parts of the city and at some times of the day all across the city.

The Solution

Cooperation not confrontation. We need to work with those who keep us safe and make their ability to do their job easier not harder.

One of the first places to start is with the LRT. I will be working with EPS for solutions to bring back people's sense of security and confidence to ride on the LRT.
